Both positions below are initially offered on a fixed term contract for the 2018 season (ending November 2018). There is however scope for both roles to become permanent.

 Tea Barn Supervisor  

40 hrs per week. Hours will be worked between 8am and 6pm over 5 days. Must be available weekends. Overtime will be required during busy periods.

 £9+ per hour

To assist in the seamless running of the Tea Barn in the most efficient and effective manner, delivering the highest possible standards of service. Reporting to the General Manager.

 Daily duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the daily running of the Tea Barn, including serving customers in a friendly, pleasant and courteous manner, assisting with food preparation, restocking, accepting delivery of goods and ensuring the barn’s smooth running in liaison with the General Manager.
  • Preparation of the serving kitchen in readiness for opening at 9am.
  • Undertaking and supervising the preparation of food and beverages served in the Tea Barn
  • Ensure equipment is working properly and all opening and closing checks have been carried out and correctly recorded.
  • Ensure timesheets are filled out correctly by each member of staff at the end of their shifts.
  • Assist in the organisation of staff rotas and foresee any potential issues.
  • Monitor stock levels and use by dates and take appropriate action.
  • Learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting for all kitchen equipment, reporting any maintenance issues to the General Manager
  • Overseeing daily cleaning of the kitchen area.
  • Ensuring that the working environment is kept free of hazards.

Person Specification

  • Excellent people skills with experience in leading, motivating and developing teams.
  • High standard of spoken and written English language.
  • Catering experience and knowledge of food. Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is desirable but assistance in achieving this will be made available if needed.
  • A working knowledge of health and safety requirements within the food industry.
  • Full driving licence and own transport essential

  

Events Co-ordinator

 Job Description:

To co-ordinate our public and private events here at the farm. These can range from craft workshops to children’s parties and school visits to product tastings. 

24 hours a week to be worked on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. There is scope to spread the hours over four days but some hours must be worked on each of the aforementioned days. We envisage a minimal amount of weekend work if major events fall on a weekend and require extra assistance. 

£9 per hour

 Job Description

  • Co-ordinate events, including problem-solving, welcoming customers, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and organising vendors
  • Maintain and develop professional working relationships with vendors
  • Manage the promotion of events including social media, business website, newspaper listings etc and the creation of promotional material
  • Manage event costing
  • Respond to public enquiries as and when they arise
  • Identify new opportunities for events and activities at the farm
  • Assist with general marketing and business research as required
  • Assist with general office duties as required such as answering the phone, dealing with correspondence, maintaining calendars, greeting visitors  to the office etc

 Person Specification

  • A practical and confident individual with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to liaise with a wide range of clients at all levels
  • Good computer skills including MS Publisher, Excel and Word.
  • Experience in using a wide variety of social media, preferably for business purposes
  • Good organisational skills
  • The ability to be a strong team player
  • Full driving licence and own transport essential
