We currently have strawberries and gooseberries available for PYO. We all know how popular strawberries are but what about the humble gooseberry? Gooseberries have a generous quantity of fibre per serving, and contain essential minerals such as potassium. They also pack more vitamin A than most berries which is essential for healthy vision, brain function and immune response.  We’ll admit that they are a bit more work to prepare than other berries but the rewards are all worth it.

The most popular recipes are gooseberry fool and gooseberry crumble but they also work well as an accompaniment for pork, duck and oily fish such as mackerel. Check out our Pinterest Page for more recipe ideas.
