A massive congratulations to Essex chef Nick Smith who yesterday (30th September 2020) was crowned National Chef of the Year 2021 by the Craft Guild of Chefs! Previous winners include Gordon Ramsey, Mark Sargeant & Steve Groves.
Nick contacted us back in August as he wanted to use locally grown Sweet Eve strawberries in his dessert for the competition which required the entrants to prepare a three course meal with an emphasis on ‘best of British’ and sustainability. We were more than happy to help and his resulting dish of strawberries, clotted cream, lemon and mint also went on to win the best pastry award too! We always knew our strawberries were good but who knew they were capable of looking so amazing!
