With news that Carol Kirkwood will be leaving the BBC this week after more than 25 years, it really does feel like the end of an era—not just for BBC Breakfast viewers, but for us here at the farm too.
We’ve been lucky enough to welcome Carol to the farm twice over the years to deliver the weather to the nation, and both visits have given us some very special memories.
Her first visit was back in October 2018 in the early years of our Halloween event, when we were knee deep in pumpkins. She was even lovelier in person that we could have hoped for and she took the the time to chat to staff and even purchased a few goodies from the farm shop.

When she returned to the farm in the summer of 2021, and the contrast couldn’t have been greater. The sunflower fields were in full bloom, the sun was (almost) shining, and the farm was buzzing with visitors enjoying the season.

As she signs off from the BBC, we just want to say thank you—for the visits, the smiles, and for being such a familiar and friendly presence on our screens over the years.
It goes without saying, that Carol in always welcome back at the farm, with or without a television crew!
